Radio & Broadcasting
Voice work, ad production and broadcasting technology — built from years on air at 92.3FM 2YYY and from building the station's own website as its President.
I co-host a tech segment on community radio, fill in across the schedule as needed, and serve as President of 92.3FM 2YYY — a not-for-profit station run entirely by volunteers, broadcasting across Young and the Hilltops. That's given me an unusually complete view of broadcasting, from the microphone to the back-end technology that keeps a station running.
Voice and Production Work
Years of live, unscripted radio teaches you things a studio read-through never will — how to hold attention without over-explaining, how to recover gracefully when something goes sideways live, and exactly what separates an ad that generates calls from one that gets politely tuned out. I bring all of that to voice-over work, ad scripting, and production for local businesses wanting their advertising to actually land.
Broadcasting Technology, From the Inside
I've personally lived through a transmitter dying mid-broadcast and the half-hour of methodical troubleshooting that followed. I built 2YYY's current website myself, in my time as President — live streaming, a program guide, presenter profiles, and tools the volunteer team can manage without needing a developer involved every time. I understand both sides of community broadcasting: what listeners actually respond to, and what genuinely keeps a station's infrastructure reliable.
What This Means for Clients
If you need an ad written and produced that'll actually cut through, a voice for something that needs to sound genuine rather than corporate, or technical help with a broadcasting or streaming setup, this is one of the few areas where I can offer both the creative and the technical side from direct, hands-on experience rather than from a brief.
What's Included
Ad scripting and production, voice-over work, and technical consulting or build work for broadcasting and streaming setups — informed by actually running and presenting on a real station, not just studying how one works.
